Autumn Equinox

What projects are coming to fruition?
What visions are coming together?
What dreams are being realised?

We have reached Autumn Equinox, the cross quarter festival, when we harvest and reap the seeds we have sown over the year. The sun remains balanced between light and dark for three days, before the sun starts travelling again, and the days become shorter and the nights longer.

Exactly six months ago on the Spring Equinox, the UK went into lockdown and life as we know it changed dramatically. The last six months have been life-changing for many of us, and now is a good time to take a moment of pause, and reflect on the journey we have been on, where we are now, and where we want to be in six months time.

This balance of the daylight and darkness, reminds us to accept the dualities of life. We are living in what can be termed a duality reality, where we cannot have light without dark, peace without war, joy without sorrow.

The way we experience life depends on our perspective, whether our glass is half full, or half empty. When we can't see what the future holds it is very easy to fall into negative thinking, and start feeling depressed and stressed.

Over this next few days, whenever you feel yourself going into worrying and fearful thoughts, focus on the abundance that you have in your life. When we focus on what we have, rather than what we don't have, we immediately feel better.

A good exercise is to start a gratitude diary every evening, especially if you are spiraling into a dark place. On one page, record all the things you are grateful for that happened in your day, on the other page write down all the things you would like to happen. This focuses our attention on more exciting things, and ignites creativity and inspiration.

If you would like to honour the Autumn Equinox invite family and friends to gather and share good food and uplifting stories. Ask everyone to bring a dish to share made from seasonal food. Don’t forget to acknowledge and celebrate the abundance of Mother Earth, as you share her fruits.
