Weekly Shamanic Guidance: Attitude of Gratitude
“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” — Sarah Ban Breathnach
As we head deeper into 2017, the news and media is already heavy and depressing, making it more difficult to remain calm, peaceful and positive. There are so many wonderful things happening in the world but we are being fed just one perspective, which is making us feel fearful and disempowered. The more we buy into the negative, angry, fearful, and separatist reality that the media is painting for us, the more we will experience and see it in our lives.
Law of Karma
In the Eastern philosophies, the Law of Karma states that our past actions are directly creating our present circumstances, and the results of our actions depend on our corresponding motivations. In other words, Karma is the inevitable result of any action. It is not a reward or punishment; there is no judgement, just the natural order of things.
Therefore, life isn’t something that is happening to us, and we are not victims of a chaotic set of circumstances. Our belief that we live in a random universe, based on negative, disempowering ideas, such as coincidence, luck, and chance, where anything can happen suddenly and without warning, have diluted the powerful energies that are working on this Planet and have kept us disconnected to the true reality, and our true power. Instead, everything we think and feel is having a direct impact and significance on our experience of life.
Taking Personal Responsibility
When we acknowledge the part we play in every situation, we get back in the driving seat. Rather than be the victim, we know that we have chosen everything and everyone in our our lives and accept we are creating everything in our lives by both our conscious and unconscious choices. When we take personal responsibility for our lives and the choices that we make, we automatically become more empowered and liberated because we no longer look to the external world to change. We know that WE must change in order to see change, and the first step is by adopting an attitude of gratitude.
Adopt an Attitude of Gratitude
The key to real happiness is to feel gratitude for everything that is happening in our lives. When we feel gratitude we open our hearts to love, forgiveness compassion and acceptance. WE really are the co-creators of our lives, and every choice we make, every action we take, every thought we have is part of the process of what we are creating. Once we start changing what we are feeling within, our external experiences automatically change. It is the Lore of Nature.
When we start seeing everything from the perspective of gratitude, understanding that we have attracted everything into our lives, either consciously or unconsciously, we can step out of the role of victim and begin the real process of healing on both a personal and collective level.
Count Your Blessings
You can immediately change your life by changing your thoughts. The first thing you can do right this minute is be thankful for everything you have in your life. Right now, turn off your phone/laptop and spend five minutes listing everything you are thankful for. Really feel grateful for everything and everyone that you have in your life right now and let the gratitude flow.
We are so privileged to live as we do, so don’t forget to remember to list all the things we take for granted, such as cold and hot water on tap, dishwasher, washing machine, central heating, indoor toilet, car, food in the fridge, dustbin men, your house, garden, patio, balcony… the list is endless.
When more of us choose to feel grateful and blessed for everything that we have, we generate the power of generosity which ripples out and touches others. The more we can ripple this energy of Love and Gratitude out into the world, the quicker fear and anxiety on this planet will dissolve.
I will end this Shamanic Guidance with the wise words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”
Buy a journal specifically for the purpose of writing a gratitude diary. Every night before you go to bed write down all the things you are grateful for, that happened during your day. Even if you had a really shitty day, and everything seemed to go wrong, there is always something to be grateful for.
On the other side of the page write down all the things you are grateful for, that have not yet happened in your life. So that new job you have always wanted but never had the courage to go for, the pay rise, the clean bill of health from you doctor, the pregnancy you have been dreaming about for years. Write all your hopes, dreams and wishes all down on that page, as if they have already been manifested in your life. At the bottom of the page thank the universe/God/life/etc for your dreams coming true.
When we write down our intentions, with a sense of gratitude and purpose, we are focusing on a more positive and abundant outlook that enables us to consciously manifest what we want.
You may find you are grateful for different things, or the same things continue to resurface, it doesn’t matter. As long as you are focusing your attention to concentrate on all the positivity and abundance that are happening in your life, you are shifting consciousness to create more positivity and abundance in your life.
