My Poetry

I will soon be adding video/audio download to the poetry so stay tuned....

Poetry has given me the freedom to express my deepest feelings about the world and what is happening in it. All my poems are plucked from the heavens and formulated into words. They usually marinate in my mind for a while before it comes in a gush, often inspired by music or other poetry. Each poem expresses the way I feel about life, the universe and everything. I found that after a particular experience a poem would come that helped me express my feeling towards that experience.

The Goddess

A few days after I wrote "The Shaman's Last Apprentice" I met a conscious poet who introduced me to the underground poetry scene. After the birth of the book there was the 'after birth' of poetry. The Goddess is my first poem. It came in a gush and I call it "The Goddess." It was influenced by my time working in the corporate world, and attending the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. It is my favourite poem because it sums up everything I stand for and believe in.

Evolutionary Pathways

This poem was inspired by Ayahuasca. When I returned from the Amazon I felt very lost and afraid. My Apprenticeship was fast-tracked and suddenly I found myself in the middle of London with no real understanding of what had happened to me. It has taken me years to integrate the Apprenticeshipexperiences and Ayahuasca’s message. Writing my book 'The Shaman's Last Apprentice' opened up Pandora's Box that I had kept hidden and secret. This poem explains what I have realised since my return to the west.

Beat of the Drums

This poem came after a 5 rhythms dance class with live drumming. I allowed myself to get lost in the sound of the drum beat and the poem just flowed out while I was dancing. I see this poem as more of a rap. It represents the part of me that aches to just flow with the rhythm of life and create a more divinely inspired world.

A New Way

This poem was inspired after an amazing poetry night in Brixton. I sat out under the moon and the poem just flowed like a waterfall after the monsoon. I was feeling really liberated and empowered at the time. I had left my job, walked into the unknown and an amazing thing was happening - my dreams were coming true. It was time to walk Another Way (which was the name of my book before I saw that Natwest Bank was using it as their slogan!!).

Death

After I left my corporate job in 2003, I became a volunteer for Trinity Hospice in Clapham. Every Monday morning I would work on the ward, keeping the patients company, making drinks and helping out. I became very close to a number of patients and saw first hand the amazing experience that is death. The experience opened my eyes and this poem is for all those who are afraid to embrace this wonderful passage of life.

Agni Flame

One afternoon my friend came round and performed a ritual called the Agni Flame. It consists of writing some signs on the back of the person and then speaking some words. The effects were immediate. I could feel a charge through my body and felt the presence of the angels. That evening this poem came through.

True Love

I wrote this poem after a guy I really liked led me on and then wasn't brave enough to communicate with me what was happening. I realised that I had to find the love I was desperately searching for inside me.
