"The Shaman's Last Apprentice"

IThe Shaman's Last Apprentice is the true story of my journey to the Amazon and my time with the Shaman and his family, taking the sacred medicine plant, Ayahuasca, and being initiated into the ancient wisdom of the rainforest.

I did not become the Shaman’s apprentice because of some amazing gifts or psychic abilities that I have. Neither was I chosen because I was special.  My journey of self-discovery happened because I believed, without doubt and with all my heart, that there must be another way of living, without fear or suffering, a life where I was free.  And I did not give up on this dream, even when it seemed impossible.

This story is also a warning from the Shaman to the West that we urgently need to change our relationship with each other, and with Mother Earth. Only by our choices can we end war and make this planet a Heaven on Earth. And yet change can only occur when each one of us takes the responsibility to change ourselves first.  Now it is time to wake up and evolve consciously, to start shining our light and spreading our love. You do not need to go to the rainforest to find your divinity. It is found when we are truly happy and at peace with ourselves. It is an inner journey that is unique to each individual, a universal pilgrimage called life that we are all taking, consciously or unconsciously.  We are not helpless. We are not caged. The path of conscious evolution is open to anyone who wishes to walk it.

Sitting opposite her she took my hands, looked deep into my eyes, and said in a serious voice, “Rebecca, all I can see for you, if you go to Peru, is darkness, death and destruction. I advise you not to go. If you stay in London I can see you will have a very successful career in banking.

The very next day I bought my plane ticket to Peru.  Darkness, death and destruction sounded a lot more fun than a career in banking. But the psychic’s words came partly true and during my time in Machu Picchu my whole world collapsed. One night, when I had reached the very depths of despair, and not knowing where to turn, I had a vision. A shaman from deep in the heart of the Amazon had heard my heart calling. He told me it was time to learn from him, so I followed this vision, this dream, and found my teacher in a little village nestled in a remote corner of the Amazon rainforest. There I became the Shaman’s last apprentice......
