Jack Herer, the Father of the hemp movement and one of the most prolific campaigners for hemp has died. Jack was on a life-long personal crusade to promote and spread the word about hemp - a true Hempite.
His book ‘The Emperor Wears no Clothes’ is one of the definitive books on hemp, documenting Hemp’s history and uses, it’s social and economic role, as well as it’s demise at the hands of big business.
Jack’s passion and drive helped bring hemp back to the fore and with his information packed book people started to understand the importance of hemp. He converted many new fans to this wondrous plant.
He was a pioneer on the path and helped us find our way, providing
knowledge and information that had been deeply buried and hidden. As he writes in his forward, “My hope is that this book helps everyone understand the true nature of cannabis hemp and that you, dear reader, decide to become active in the effort to end this crime against man and nature.”
Just like Herer I believe hemp is one of the major solutions to some of the huge challenges we are facing RIGHT NOW on the planet - we are heading towards major environmental chaos and have this year already experienced three earthquakes in different parts of the world (Haiti, California, Chile), and the Icelandic volcano that grounded flights and caused huge social and financial chaos. The Chilean tremor even knocked the planet of its axis by 1.26 microseconds.
We can no longer turn a blind eye to what is happening on the planet and must soon all realise that we have to work together in order to minimise the huge impacts these natural phenomenons will have on our way of life and the very existence of our species.
It takes a brave warrior to stand up against the general view of the masses and shout “THE EMPEROR WEARS NO CLOTHES” and be one of the only ones to see it. Jack travelled the country, educating and converting people to the importance of hemp for the future of the planet. He was a true inspiration and one of my hero’s that alas I will now never meet!
Jack had a dream that “his future has hemp fully integrated into the society such that the need for fossil fuels and synthetic fibres will have been replaced by natural substances that are annually renewable and non-toxic. He sees our intelligence raised and our health improved….by the flesh and oil of the hempseed. He sees how our shelter, food, clothing, medicines, fuels and mental state will have been spiritually effected for the better because of hemp.”
I couldn’t have put it better myself - it’s now up to us to live his dream and turn it into the reality!!!
