Mercury Retrograde starts today until 15th January, and heralds a time of reflection, re-evaluation, and re-examination.

In mythology Mercury is considered the messenger between the gods and mortals. Mercury is expressed through our communications. In Modern times Mercury represents our telecommunications, the computer, telephone, internet, fax, printer etc.

Four times every year Mercury goes retrograde for up to three weeks and this has strong repercussions for us humans here on Earth.

Although retrograde literally means ‘Backwards,’ no planet actually moves backwards across the sky, they only appear to do so. Its just that we are moving faster or slower than the retrograde planet giving in the impression that the planet is behind us.

Because the Planets work to help us Mercury retrograde is the perfect time to quaterly re-evaluate, redecorate, replace, renew reflect, respond, and re-examine where we are in our lives and where we are going.

During this time it is advisable not to make any long-term decisions or sign any contract or agreements because all to often not all the information is available during Mercury Retrograde and it is only when the planet returns to normal do important issues come to light.

You may also find travel plans go awry, letters may never arrive, computer, fax, printer, internet go on the blink and there is general communication confusion and frustration. It also creates delays, late appointments, wrong directions and general disorder.

You may also find the humour in the chaos, as Mercury correlates to Hermes the trickster and often creates a comedy of errors.

The key this period is take the opportunity to reflect and review where you are and where you are going and blame it on Mercury Retrograde when things go wrong!!!
