As we reach the Aries new moon – sat 18th April the fire energy is still raging. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, and the sign of new beginnings, especially as it heralds the change of season from the barren winter to the growth of summer.
However, this year it has come late in the month, and it certainly looks like nature is in a pause here in the UK, the trees are full of ripe bud but have yet to fully open. So hopefully this late Aries new moon will be the spark plug that ignites the growth, vitality and fertility of summer.
We are a part of nature and bound by the natural laws that govern all living things. Just as a gardener plants the seed in fertile soil and gives it water, she must rely on nature to fertilise the seed, and trust that the seed will grow.
Likewise, this is the time to plant our dreams and visions into the fertile soil of our imaginations. We can tend to it but ultimately, we must leave it up to nature to provide the right conditions for our dreams to manifest into reality, and this we have no control over.
This Aries moon is asking us to trust in nature, even if things are not going quite as planned, and the mountain seems to be getting ever higher. We need to let go of our ego desires, and stop manipulating life to try and work it in our favour. When we do this we create a lot more stress and unhappiness.
Now more than ever, we must learn to let go of trying to make things happen and trust that nature is taking care of it all. In other words we have to get out of our own ego way and let life take its natural course. When we do that we can enjoy the journey a lot more.
This moon is ruled by Mars, the planet of war, and direcly influences where we direct our energy. If you are feeling angry, resentful or vengeful this moon can trigger the desire to express it, however destructive this may be. It also amplifies the feelings of desperation and suppression, if you are lost, stuck, or in the no-thingness. However, if you are feeling inspired, creative and passionate, this moon will ignite the magic and synchronicities, manifesting your dreams into reality.
Over this Aries moon we have a choice, remain in a stubborn egocentric place, ramming into obstacles head first and creating dramas and igniting fires, or become more like the sacrificial ram, surrender to life as it is, and let the flow guide you to your destination.
Being the first sign of the zodiac, Aries reminds us to see life from the innocence of a child, who experiences the world as an adventure to be explored. This is the purest expression of the ego, and the most powerful because it comes from a place of trust and excitement, rather than distrust and bitterness.
Let the Aries fire burn away any cynicism that is stopping you from embracing life fully. When we are in right awareness we see life from a more positive and liberating perspective. The cup becomes half full and we can see all the gifts and miracles that are constantly happening around us.
I will end this Lunascope with the wise words of Albert Schweitzer:
“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
