After the balancing Libra new moon we are now heading towards the next round of eclipses starting with the total eclipse of the moon in Aries. This eclipse completes the process that started on the Libra full moon eclipse we experienced in April 2014.
The Libra/Aries moon cycle is all about finding the balance between the ego/self and the greater whole. The Libra lunar eclipse in May showed us where we needed more balance in our lives and illuminated what no longer serves us.
The Aries full moon total eclipse will help us to see what internal processes are stopping us from shining bright. Aries is the fiery first sign of the zodiac, the youngest of the signs and the one that is most impetuous, aggressive, superior, competitive and immature. This eclipsed moon can remove the veil so that we get to see this weakness within us and where it is not serving us.
When we do that we loosen the ego’s grip, which can be both painful and liberating, as it forces us to look at the hidden darkness; the selfish, egotistical narcissist that lies within us all. Aries reminds us that when we are not in service to humanity and the planet, we feel a deep sense of loss and dis-ease.
Alternatively, when we stop being a victim (the opposite end of the spectrum), we can face our fear and what is really stopping us from being who we are and standing in our power. We know we can no longer blame others or our circumstances for holding us back, instead, we must take an honest look at our own blockages and resistance.
For many of us, standing on the sidelines is no longer an option. Aries is represented by the ram, and reminds us that sometimes we just need to ram through our fear to get to the other side. We may also see some disturbing information come to light over this moon, both in our private lives and in the public arena. A lunar eclipse in a fire sign can illuminate dark secrets, cutting through the veils of illusion and delusion so that we can see more clearly.
Heightening this already intense moon cycle, we have Mercury going retrograde from 4-25th October, enabling us to catch our breath and slow down after the very intense and busy summer. Mercury retrograde is a maintenance period to help us reflect on the past in order to find clarity for the future. Mercury retrograde creates the space so we can check in with ourselves. These few weeks are an opportunity to take stock of your life and see where you are going. However fast life seems to be going, slow down within and you will find more time to get things done.
Over this period our creativity is also constantly in flux and flow. Don’t restrict the flow by fixing onto any one thing at any given moment. Everything is in the potential stage while we are in Mercury retrograde and anything can happen in this space of unfettered creativity. Be patient and by the end of the month you will have a much clearer picture of what action to take. By slowing down and using this time wisely; reflecting, re-evaluating and revising, especially when things get delayed or postponed, you will be better equipped to fly forward once Mercury goes direct.
This Aries full moon is also a good one for overcoming obstacles and problems. There is never a problem without a solution, it is the natural law of nature, but often we cannot work it out from our limited rational thinking brain. When we switch to intuitive, creative, right brain thinking, the solutions can bubble up from within us.
This moon is urging us re-ignite our inner fire and stand tall and proud of who we are! Fortunately, the last few months have released many of us from anything and anyone that was not aligned to our value systems, and this Aries total lunar eclipse full moon helps us to find the courage and faith to keep on following our dreams.
I will end this Lunascope with the wise words of Carl Gustav Jung:
“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.””
Love, Peace and Blessings
